So I wanted a way to recycle last year's ComicCon bags because they were just sitting in my closet. It was a creative challenge & great fun to make. It was also surprisingly comfortable to wear even though it's unlined. I decided on a 1950's inspired outfit. All in all, it took 4 bags and is made up of 2 pieces -- the skirt and the top. I am quite petite in size, so if you are thinking of making your own outfit -- that's just a loose gauge of how many bags you might need.
The skirt: I used McCall's Pattern M6706 and used the same side of 4 different bags so that the skirt would look consistent all the way around. I also added a thin black lace border on the bottom and used black fabric for the top to give it a more finished look.
The top: I heavily modified Vogue pattern 7015 -- made it smaller for a tighter fit around the torso and added a scarf-looking collar inspired by the Athena character in the Disney movie Tomorrowland. I used the same thin lace border on the edge of the sleeves and bottom of the top as the skirt.
