The Puppeteer Has Entered The Game.... by bandoodie
The Puppeteer Has Entered The Game....
"A new contract has been acquired....."

This is a cosplay of Assassin's Creed 4 Multiplayer character "The Puppeteer".  This costume was super fun and very challenging to make and I learned some new skills along the way. Since I was wearing it to a pirate-themed wedding in the humid heat of a Puerto Rican summer, I wanted to make the outfit as bearable as possible without sacrificing the awesome aesthetics that went along with the character. I wanted to wear a minimum amount of leather and more breathable fabrics instead.

The hat is my amateur attempt at millinery and is made out of woven black raffia. It was a cowboy hat in a previous life, and I had to modify it drastically to get the right tricorn shape. I suffered many needle pricks, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It allowed in enough of a breeze, but functioned well to shade my eyes in the blaring tropical sun, so I could wear it all day without turning my head into a furnace. It worked so well, I wore it to the beach the next day.

I made the jewelry out of black glass beads and used textured fabric paint to make the raised filigree designs on the mask that you can't see from this picture. The gloves made me cry. They're made out of soft brown leather.  Initially, I made 2 right-hand ones even though I was soooo careful about following instructions.  The second attempt was only slightly better. I am never making gloves from scratch ever again.

The coat is a mash up of 3 different patterns.  The navy blue fabric is stretch cotton and the hand-dyed red fabric is damask. I used the thickest liner I could find so that the collar would stand straight up. And I also learned how hard it is to line up 16 pairs of pewter buttons.  The poison bottles on my thigh are actually upside down bottles of nail polish with  silver painted beads attached as the faux tops. :) The spats are made out of faux leather and more pewter buttons.  It would've been easier if the material stretched, but I liked the look of these better. To ensure that they stay up, the tops are sewn onto my pants and There are elastics across the open bottom to hold them to my boots.

Because sometimes, you have to do something dramatic in order to move mountains.....

As it happens sometimes in life, I realized I was on a path up the wrong mountain for the wrong reasons. Doesn't matter that I was nearly at the top. Doesn't matter -- all the prestige and glory that comes from reaching that peak. Doesn't matter all the energy & effort already spent in order to reach a goal that sacrificed the balance in my life. So I have turned away from the glorious road and decided to take instead a less traveled path... and if you don't mind, I'd like to take this corner of the page to finally share a few thoughts along the way.
